Stress Management and Prayer

Stress Management and Prayer are one and the same for me.

I agree wholeheartedly with Celeste, author of Little Known Food Facts, in her article about stress and the body. (Everything I need to Know About Stress, I learned From My Body.) Stress does cause trembling, numbness and skin disorders. But don't forget about the IBS, back pain, knee aches, reflux disease. I have had all of the above, along with the spells of not eating for days at a time.

If you find yourself in this position, you will probably find that you don't want to eat anything at all and when you do eat, it's something from a fast food place that takes no energy to fix. (You are too tired to cook, right?)

Get a grip. Make a choice based on your common sense, not your emotions. Decide to make a change in your life today, but start small.

Try a simple glass of nice cold milk. Let it sooth your body and give you a bit of energy. Now that you feel a little better, start talking to God. Tell Him what is stressing you and let Him have it. Lay it at His feet and don't pick it back up for the rest of the day.

Drink lots of milk and water and tap into some spiritual milk in your Bible. (Like so many, you may not feel worthy to talk to God. Ask for forgiveness and receive it fully. Then, look Him right in the eye and cry out for help.)

Do it again tomorrow. Stress Management and Prayer will become one and the same for you as well. Now that you've got more energy and your stomach isn't tied in knots, move on to the healthy foods Celeste writes about and move on to spiritual veggies as well!
